Darwin has many great walks and treks throughout the national parks and gardens. Choose to explore the walking trails of Litchfield National Park in an afternoon, over a few days or a week or two while camping, swimming under watefalls and experiencing beautiful scenery while on your walk. Litchfield National Park Walks & Treks

Bamboo Creek Tin Mine

From 1906 - 1955 this area operated as a tin mine, it offers a great insight to this part of the Park's history.

Buley Rockhole

Explore the sights and sounds of Litchfield National Park and afterwards head to Buley Rockhole for a refreshing swim.

Florence Creek Walk

Walk Details:  6km walk, 3 hours approx

During this 22km walk you will enjoy rainforest teaming with birdlife and wildlife like bandicoots, flying foxes and northern quolls. This walk will take 2 enjoyable days.

Florence Falls

Walk Details: 160 steps

Enjoy a peaceful walk high above the beautiful double waterfalls of Florence Falls and then treat yourself to a refreshing dip in the plunge pool below, just 160 steps down the staircase.

Greenant Creek Walk

Walk Details: 2.7km, 1.5 hours 

This is a difficult walk covering a distance of 8.5km from Greenant Creek to Wangi Falls. Take a day or two to take in the beautiful flora and fauna. The area around Greenant Creek and Tjaetaba Falls is an Aboriginal sacred site and it is requested you only swim above the falls.

Tabletop Track

Walk Details: 3 - 5 Days. Section 1: 18.5km, 7 hours; Section 2: 12.3km, 5 hours; Section 3: 19.7km, 8 hours

Take three to five days to explore Tabletop Track. As you wander through monsoon forest you will pass waterfalls, creeks, pools and spot native wildlife like wallabies, possums and flying foxes. Tolmer Falls

Walk Details: 1.6km, 45 mins 

Take a quick walk to the viewing platform at the top of the remarkable Tolmer Falls. You can't explore below the falls but if you continue on the walk you will find some small rock pools.

Wangi Falls Walk

Walk Details: 1.6km, 1 hour

We suggest you take two days to walk this track as you will be constantly stopping to admire the view. Running from Wangi Falls through to Walker creek this is one of the Park's favourite tracks.

Bird Billabong

Brian Creek Monsoon Forest

Escape the heat and wander through this beautiful pocket of rainforest inside the Mary River National Park.

Mistake Billabong

Take a walk along the boardwalk and get ridiculously close to some amazing birdlife and even the odd crocodile.

Berry Springs Nature Park

Take one of the two routes and wander through this lovely area, later stop by the springs for dip.

Howard Springs Nature Park

There are two different tracks to take here: Track 1 is an 1.8 km signed walk through the different habitats and Track 2 is a short walk through to the springs where you will find fish, turtles and even barramundi.

Charles Darwin National Park

The traditional owners of this exceptional area are the Larrakia people. The area is also one of Australia's most significant wetlands and was part of our first line of defence during World War II - there are many bunkers remaining, one with fascinating memorabilia. There is also an excellent lookout and picnic area with views of the Harbour and wetlands.

Holmes Jungle Nature Park

Location: Vanderlin Drive, Sanderson

Wander through one of the few remaining areas of monsoon forest in the Darwin area. The dense forest will offer respite from the heat for you and the creatures who call this park home.
